It seems Fairy Tales and Happily Ever Afters are not just a figment of our imaginations nor are they only to be found in children's books.

Ukrainian artist Taras Polatajko has found a way of bringing to live old time favourite classic Sleeping Beauty with a very 21st  century twist.

The National Art Museum in Ukraine has a woman on display laying asleep up to two hours a day in the public gallery, as scores of people pass by deciding if this "Sleeping Beauty" is worth their Kiss of Life. If any plants a kiss on the "Sleeping Beauty" and she opens her eyes, the couple will  marry. Legal documents obliging to this have already been signed by visitors and the "Sleeping Beauty" prior to this charade.

Like poultry on display at the farmer market, the "fattest chick" gets picked by buyers.So too is the concept of this "art piece" whereby women are displayed under baying eyes of public who inspect them, to determine if they are worthy of rescue from their single life.

Fear not Lesbians. Ye have not been forgotten. This piece of art is not in any kind of way discriminatory or overlooking same sex alliance. If the Sleeping Beauty opens her eyes to the amorous Kiss of Life from a woman, the two will still be allow to marry. However as Ukraine does not recognise same sex marriages, the couple will be free to pursue this in another country which acknowledges this.

Sleeping Beauty runs at the NAM Ukraine from 22nd August to 9th September.

Man arrested by police over racist tweet.

• Another tweet faux pas from the land of fake tan and "intelligent" persons...Essex.
• Cole once-more the object of racist affection by football trolls.

A 22 year old man from Essex has been arrested  in connection with launching a virtual racist tirade via popular networking site Tweeter.
The attack was aimed at West Ham striker Carlton Cole following their disastrous 3-0 deafeat in Swansea over the weekend.

In keeping up with the usual smart remarks most from Essex are notorious for,  the arrested man wrote:

‘3-0?  3 f****** nil?? Get the f*** away from my club  u f****** useless n***** c***’.'

Cole's followers were quick to denounce the foul mouthed comments. The 28 year old Cole posted the tweet on his account later writing:

'Whether I am crap or had a bad game has nothing to with my race, creed or religion. lets just keep it FOOTBALL. Kapeesh?'

Essex police who made the swift arrest were quick to show how effective they were by also tweeting:

Information on racist tweets passed to officer. Essex Police is investigating. Thanks to all who have brought this to our attention.'

This is not the first time Cole has been subject to racist abuse. Back in 2009 he was the object of racist affection at Upton Park when Millwall fans chanted monkey sounds during the Carling Cup.

Tragic bride drowns during photo shoot

A bride who wanted to be photographed one last time in her wedding dress has died after a freak drowning accident. The tragedy occurred in the relatively non dangerous waters of River Ouareau.

30 year old Maria Pantazopolous had been married only three months and was taking part in a common practice known as "trash the dress" whereby brides engage the services of a  professional photographer to take one last pictures of them  in unusual scenery.
Reports say as the bride stepped into the river, the water quickly seeped into her wedding dress making it heavy. She then lost her foothold and was carried away by the river into standing waters, where her body was eventually discovered by a scuba diver after two policemen failed to locate her.

The traumatised photographer said before commencing the shoot he had asked Mrs Pantazopolous if she could swim- to which she replied yes. As the tragic scene unfolded before his eyes,  he put down his equipment and reached out to grab Mrs Pantazopolous but all efforts were futile in trying to save her.
Along with another witness, both were unable to reach out to the tragic bride.

Police have exclaimed shock at the incident given that the river area is not known for being turbulent or dangerous.

Why equality is utopia.

How we sound like.

Where we come from.

Any who says otherwise is not true to themselves. Look at the news making well...news; and you will see an element and aspect of everything outlined above.

Summers usually spell weeks of binge drinking and rampant coitus activities for the average UK youth. It sees chavs and their chavlets  descend on the High Street like a swarm of bees in tight mini shorts exposing rolls of fat and cellulite ridden bodies. Young men hang around exposing upper body torso covered in ghoulish tattoos and heavy cheap jewellery hanging from their necks like prized bulls at the annual farmer's market.
Round every corner we are reminded of the fact that Britain is Europe's leading economy in the teenage baby boom as we come across rows upon rows of buggies, push chairs, prams, etc steered by teens who have never done a days work but rely heavily on the handout of tax payers like myself; who work 60hours a week. Even HRH Prince Harry seems to champion this trend of careless frolicking as pictures emerge of the naked Prince in a Las Vegas hotel.

The storyline is entirely different in Allar, a small Palestinian town where youths have taken over the running of local government in a summer scheme to boost youth empowerment. In comes 15 year old Bashaer Othman, the  town's youngest Mayor of  9,000 residents. Othman has also made history by becoming Allar's first ever female Mayor and hopes her position albeit temporal, will serve to empower other young girls and women.

In her role as Mayor, Othman has represented the town in a trip to Qatar,created the town's first public park and chaired votes in setting up a fire department. Whilst Othman has no control over financial affairs, adults are always close by acting as a guide and guard to the youngster.
The ambitious teen hopes to later forge a career in the political field after completing university. Now compare this with the picture below of HRH Prince Harry on a private holiday with tax payers funded security, baring all in a Las Vegas suit.

Police in the South African city of Johannesburg killed 34 people and wounded 78 during a mass rioting of miners. The incident took place at the mining site of British registered company- Lonmin.
South Africa it appears, is unable to rid itself off the negative energy of apartheid, inequality, murder and violence. Poverty and lack of education are a catalyst to such vile unpleasant outcomes. The mining industry is currently experiencing a slump thanks to low demand and the current economic crises. Are these workers aware of the bigger picture before rioting and demanding for change?
Thursday's grim scene highlights South Africa's shaky leg in the direction of democracy and equality.

Ecuador grants Assange political asylum

Ecuador's staggering boldness and sheer insolence as she rustles feathers of Big Bird USA is shocking. 

We can state that there is a risk that he will be persecuted politically...We trust the UK will offer the necessary guarantees so that both governments can act adequately and properly respect international rights and the right of asylum.We also trust the excellent relationship the two countries have will continue.(Ricardo Patino, Ecuador Foreign Minister)

The United States of America is no doubt the world's most powerful socio-economic and military  country. It covers almost 10million km²   in land and has a population of over 314 million people; with a GDP of $15 trillion- ranked first in the world. No one can thus contest America's size as the world's leading giant (from XXL people to XXL houses, etc).

In comes the relatively unknown and inconspicuous South American country of Ecuador, to rustle the feathers of the world's longest standing and tallest giant. Ecuador dares stand in USA's way of War on Free Speech by granting Assange asylum. What are they thinking? Such insolence!. A country most degree educated Americans probably have never heard of (Unconfirmed sources say 1 in 4 Americans believe the world is made up of one continent call the U.S.A and  it's capital New York. It wasn't  until Obama became the first African American president, that most became aware of the possibility in existence of a non American).
Ecuador is 1/35th the size of the USA. Infact it is double the size of New York City at a rather modest size of 277,thousand km²with a total population of just over 15million.

It is almost unfathomable to believe such a tiny country stands in the way of the mammoth USA as she fights to silence Assange in the War Over Free Speech. (Think David and Goliath). This time, no weapons of mass destructions were found and no British bred lapdogs (think Tony Blair)  readily available to sex up dossiers in the premature claim for waging war on the wrong country (Iraq), whilst the object of their affection (Bin Laden and his school of terrorists) hid in much friendlier Pakistan- some thousands of miles away as the US & UK unknowingly helped Pakistan groom these terrorists through what we are told is aid (and millions of it too).

Temporal relief for Assange as Ecuador grants him political asylum.

The Lilliputian Ecuador granting asylum to  Assange- Robin Hood of International Diplomacy and Enemy of the West will no doubt irk our gargantuan English cousins over the pond. The next hurdle in this War on Free Speech is how will Assange leave his safety haven at the Ecuadorian embassy in London to fly to Ecuador? The police and Scotland Yard are on standby to arrest Assange if as much as his exhaled breadth strays 0.01mm away from what is considered Ecuador's diplomatic grounds in London.

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office did not welcome Ecuador's decision in supporting free speech and had this to say:

We are disappointed by the statement from Ecuador’s Foreign Minister that Ecuador has offered political asylum to Julian Assange.
Under our law, with Mr Assange having exhausted all options of appeal, the British authorities are under a binding obligation to extradite him to Sweden. We shall carry out that obligation. The Ecuadorian Government's decision this afternoon does not change that.
We remain committed to a negotiated solution that allows us to carry out our obligations under the Extradition Act.

Adams makes Olympic history 14 years after British Boxing Board of Control lifts ban on female boxing.

Nicola Virginia Adams has become the first ever female boxer to win Olympic gold at the games. The 29 year old 5'5 Leeds born boxer boxed her way through into history yesterday at the ExCel center, beating Chinese double world champ Ren Cancan. This time around, Cancan can't clinch the prestigious Olympic title.

 Nicola 'stumbled' across boxing as a 12 year old in her local gym back in Leeds when her mother had to attend an aerobics class but couldn't find child care. In those days, female boxing was banned by the British Boxing Board of Control. The reason?...pretty girls shouldn't get hit and instability of women due to their menstrual cycle. In our 21st century world, unfathomable to think such  misogynists excuses were the grounds to stop women from progressing into fulfilling careers.

 Back in 1997 famous boxer Lennox Lewis termed the idea of female boxing competitions "a freak show" and the almost far right Daily Mail described it as a "bout of madness".  Even former world boxing Champion Amir Khan was against the  International Olympic Committee announcing in 2009 it would include female boxing as party of the London2012 Olympic games. Khan's feeble view?  "When you get hit, it can be very painful". Needless to say he has never experienced child birth and of course never will.

Today the Daily Mail has Adams splashed against it's front page hailing her a hero as she adds to Team GB's spiralling Olympic gold medals, pushing the number to 24. Khan meanwhile was seen yesterday at the match,  filled with exuberant and extravagant praises for Adams. Talk about a U-turn.

African Olympic Village shuts down over unpaid debts

The African Olympic Village which saw 53 nations of the African continent come together to host social events under one roof has met an unprecedented demise; shutting down four days before it's planned closure date of August 12th. According to both the Independent and BBC, huge amounts of debts are owed to suppliers. French company- Pixom -commissioned and paid large sums of monies by African organisers for the running of the African Olympic Village, had outstanding debts to contracted suppliers hence the closure of African Village to the public yesterday. Not content with stripping bare African countries like Cameroon of timber, Congo of Gold, etc. We see destructive  French influence and rule still evident amongst Africa even in the heart of London. The words "Take our money and blow it up" in the song Africa (Higher Higher) by Debra Debs springs to mind

Located in the sprawling grounds of Kensignton Gardens directly opposite the Royal Albert Hall, the village had attracted up to 80,000 visitors during it's heyday opening from the 27th July. Entrance was free and guests were greeted by colourful African stalls adorned with quintessential African art pieces, the aroma of highly palatable spicy piquant African cuisine and barbecued grilled food which mingled in the air as all were serenaded to the up beat tempo music from various African countries. It was a most colourful scene and a truly African Village set in the heart of London, celebrating London Olympics 2012, African athletes and the Motherland.

An Accountant from West London who today visited the now deserted village was told by a member of the organising committee a sum of £350,000 was owed to food suppliers.

It seems from the real Africa to the make shift African village nestled in the bustling city of London, matters with any origin distinctively African is always bound for short lived success and a promising failure.

One thing is for sure though...the missing African athletes will definitely not be seeking refuge in this African Olympic Village.

Britain Welcomes You. 

Scores of African Olympic athletes have gone on unofficial extended sightseeing tours from the London 2012 Olympic Games. It is widely believed these athletes have sought greener pastures within the UK and perhaps other parts of Europe for economic reasons, just like European migrants did when they invaded Africa centuries ago.

Quid Pro Quo!

The Cameroon Olympic team appears to be the greatest exporter of these athletes now turn opportunist migrants. Seven to eight Cameroonian Olympic athletes are now missing. The head of Cameroon's London 2012 David Ojong confirmed of the 60 athletes attending The Games; 28  had returned home, 24 remained in The Olympic Village and the remaining others unaccounted for.

The team of abscontees include all five members of the boxing team, and one each from the swimming and female football team. Given the tough and stringent UKBA laws on those wishing to migrate and settle in the UK, these athletes will have to use their athletic skills to box, swim and kick their way through the UK system.

None so far have broken immigration rules as their visas are all valid until November.

Other defected African athletes include 15year old Ethiopian torch bearer Natnael  Yemane who made a quick dash as far back as June; and three Sudanese athletes who no doubt given the turmoil that is Sudan, are all set to apply for political asylum.
